William Wallace Combs, 92, of Festus died Dec. 20, 2021, in Festus. Mr. Combs was retired from McDonnell-Douglas. He was a Presbyterian and a U.S. Air Force veteran, as well as a member of the VFW and American Legion. Born march 28, 1929, in Hazard, Ky., he was the son of the late Bessie Gilbert and James O. Combs.
He is survived by his partner of 25 years: Airi Cohoon of Festus; five children: George (Judy) Weldon of Louisville, Ky., Denise (Charles) Staley of Dublin, Ohio, Deanna (Paul Hutto) Holst of Festus, Carolyn (Dennis) Pruneau of De Soto and Mary (Glenn) Armbruster of Festus; a sister: Anne Meers of Louisville, Ky.; 11 grandchildren: Derek AuBuchon of Hillsboro, James Holst of Festus, Jai Holst of De Soto, Shaun Staley of Dublin, Ohio, Charissa AuBuchon of Huntingdon, Tenn., Matthew Weldon of San Francisco, Calif., Brandon Pruneau of Hillsboro, Krystle Tone of College Station, Texas, Krystle Stemler of Bloomsdale, Greg Armbruster of St. Louis and Glenn Armbruster of Cape Girardeau; 16 great-grandchildren: Tanner, Jacob and Ayssa AuBuchon of Crystal City, Andrew and Kristin Holst of De Soto, Oliver and Quintin Pruneau of Hillsboro, River and Kairi Armbruster of Cape Girardeau, Jordan AuBuchon and Skyler Kirkland of Huntingdon Tenn., Jewel, Keilyn, Koltyn and Rialyn Stemler of Bloomsdale and Kyndall AuBuchon of Huntingdon, Tenn.; and family members Becky Maldonado of Fresno, Calif., Bonnie Nixon of Lubbock, Texas, Julie Bernsen of Kingsburg, Calif., Leigh Anne Meers of Louisville, Ky., Lynn Williams of Louisville, Anne Maldonado of Clovis, Calif., Teddy Maldonado of Fresno, Calif., and David Meers of West Palm Beach, Fla.
He was preceded in death by Mary Noe, James Combs, Elizabeth McCrocklin, Violet Casey, Sue Grace Combs and Fabius Combs.
A funeral service will be held at 12:30 p.m. Monday, Jan. 10, in the National Cemetery at Jefferson Barracks.
