William Joseph “Bill” DeClue Sr., 79, of De Soto died Jan. 21, 2021, at his home. Mr. DeClue was a retired firefighter and engineer for the Creve Coeur Fire Department. He served in the U.S. Army in the Vietnam War. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, the Pontiac Oakland International Car Club and the Kruisers Car Club. He was a hobbyist oil painter, car detailer and classic car enthusiast who won several trophies at shows. He enjoyed gardening and caring for his home. Born Oct. 3, 1941, in De Soto, he was the son of the late Edward Eli and Iverne Beatrice (Triplett) DeClue.
He is survived by his wife: Pat (Wigger) DeClue; five children: William J. DeClue Jr. of Altamont, N.Y., Patrick (Sherri) Edward-Martin of Moscow Mills, Christine Tate of Titusville, Fla., Jennifer (Mike) Miller of O’Fallon and Margaret “Peggy” (Tony) Huff of Bonne Terre; two stepdaughters: Jennifer Washburn of Eureka and Heather (Brett) Burroughs of Orlando, Fla.; a sister-in law: Chloe DeClue of De Soto; 19 grandchildren: Garrison, Drake, Lilly Rose, MaKenna and Jackson DeClue, Megan and Mark Tate, Jordan, Corey and Leah Sheridan, Zachary (Mariah) Ward, Thomas, Tyler and Brett Miller, Joshua and Eric Spruell and Michael, Payton Huff and Alicia Huff; and numerous family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by a brother: Terry DeClue.
Celebration of life will be held later. Memorials may be made to the National Stroke Association or the American Cancer Society. Arrangements were under the direction of Mahn Funeral Home, De Soto.
