Fleis, William

William J. Fleis, 64, of Osage Beach, formerly of Imperial, died April 10, 2017, at his home. Mr. Fleis was a civil engineer who owned and operated Design 9 Inc. in south St. Louis County. He was a member of the Railway Club of St. Louis, the National Railway Conference and AREMA of St. Louis. He attended the Church at Osage Hills in Osage Beach and enjoyed boating, working in his yard and walking outdoors. He had a passion for feeding the hungry and was a longtime volunteer with organizations like the Food Bank of Central and Northeast Missouri. Born Jan. 28, 1953, in St. Louis, he was the son of the late Margaret M. (Tiefenbrun) and Robert L. Fleis.

He is survived by his wife of nearly 10 years: Anita R. (McDowell) Fleis of Osage Beach; two children: Robert Fleis of Alton, Ill., and Shila Stout of New Hudson, Mich.; three siblings: Pete Fleis of St. Louis, Jan (Ron) Rutter of Climax Springs and Steve (Sharon) Fleis of Barnhart; two grandchildren: Elisabeth Kendrick and Annabelle Stout of New Hudson, Mich.; and many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a nephew: Steve M. Fleis; and one great-nephew: Lance W. Rutter.

Visitation is scheduled from 6-8 p.m. Friday, April 14, at Hedges Scott Funeral Home in Osage Beach. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 15, at the Church at Osage Hills in Osage Beach, officiated by Pastor Ken. Burial is in the New Hope Cemetery in Kaiser.
