William Charles “Bill” Altnether, 65, of Arnold died Feb. 5, 2016, in St. Louis County. Mr. Altnether worked for McDonnell Douglas and Boeing as an aerospace engineer and later for Home Depot and Lowe’s. He enjoyed working with disabled people, building and home remodeling projects. Born April 12, 1950, in St. Louis, he was the son of Elizabeth “Betty” (Baker) Zanzie and the late Aloys “Jack” Altnether.
He is survived by a son: Nathan Altnether; two daughters: Lisa (Paul) Meyer and Kelli (Czarrok) Fitzpatrick; three grandchildren: Klaus Meyer, Chloe Fitzpatrick and Madelyn Fitzpatrick; a sister: Diane Bangert; a nephew: Jacob Bangert; two nieces: Deanna Bangert and Michelle Bangert; and an aunt: Patricia (Bob) Hunt.
He was preceded in death by his stepfather: Arthur Zanzie; and two aunts: Veronica Ruegge and Delores Jackson.
Visitation will be held from 4-6 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 11, at Heiligtag-Lang-Fendler Funeral Home, 1081 Jeffco Blvd., in Arnold, followed immediately by funeral services officiated by Pastor Kim Brinkmann. Burial will be private. Memorials may be made to the Missouri Kidney Program, 111 A.P. Green Building, 201 Business Loop 70 West, Columbia, MO 65211. Arrangements are under the direction of Heiligtag-Lang-Fendler Funeral Home.
