Wayne Frederick Peterein Sr., 78, of St. Louis County died April 13, 2021, at Delmar Gardens Meramec Valley in Fenton. Mr. Peterein worked as an aerospace engineer for the U.S. Army Aviation Systems Command in St. Louis. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Arnold. Born June 7, 1942, in Festus, he was the son of the late John J. and Julia (Plass) Peterein.
He is survived by his wife: Kathleen “Kathy” (Roberson) Peterein.
He is survived by five sons: Wayne (Noreen) Peterein Jr. of Walnut Creek, Calif., Scott (Jennifer) Peterein of Crofton, Md., Jeffrey (Cara-lee) Billo of Round Rock, Texas, Christopher (Donna) Peterein of St. Louis and Matthew (Libby) Peterein of Fenton; two daughters: Amy (Derek) Linderg of Liberty and Tracie (Dave) Callahan of St. Louis; two sisters: Carol (the late Rudy) Zaagman of Benton Harbor, Mich., Lori (the late Dennis L.) Robinson of Festus two brothers: John D. Peterein of Festus and James (Mary) Peterein of Festus; and 15 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a daughter: Patricia Peterein; a brother: Gary Peterein; and a grandchild.
A memorial gathering will be from 10 a.m. until a memorial service at noon Thursday (April 29) at First Baptist Church of Arnold, 2012 Missouri State Road. Attendees are asked to wear face masks. Burial with full military honors will be in Presbyterian/Methodist Cemetery in Festus. Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church of Arnold. Arrangements are under the direction of Vinyard Funeral Home in Festus.
