Wanda Lee (Thomas) Short, 67, of Festus died Feb. 8, 2015, at her home. Mrs. Short was a homemaker and loved crocheting, cooking, sewing, and her Dachshund, Honey. Born July 5, 1947, in Farmington, she was the daughter of the late Verl and Pauline (Henson) Thomas.
She is survived by her husband: Jerry Short of Festus; a son: Michael (Madonna) Short of Hematite; a daughter: Donna Bennett of Robinson, Ill.; five grandchildren: Derrick Short, Lindsay Short, Tara Bennett, Tacy Deffendall and Zachary Bennett; and seven great-grandchildren: Julia Wolfe, Alexander Wolfe, Azaven Bennett, Nathen Bennett, McKynlee Bennett, Kaylynn Deffendall and Tyler Deffendall.
He was preceded in death by a sister: Donna Staszkiewicz.
A memorial gathering will be held at 10 a.m. and services at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 14, at Mahn Twin City Chapel, 515 Collins, in Festus, with Pastor Rich Grayson officiating. Burial will be in Peaceful Ridge Cemetery in De Soto. Memorials may be made to the National Kidney Foundation, 1001 Craig Road, Suite 480, St. Louis, 63146. Arrangements are under the direction of Mahn Twin City Chapel.
