Wanda “Faye” Strother, 87, of Crystal City died Oct. 23, 2021, at her home. Mrs. Strother worked at Pittsburgh Plate Glass and Twin City Packing, as well as owned the White Grill restaurant. She retired as a Met Life insurance agent. She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Festus/Crystal City and attended First Christian Church – Disciples of Christ in Festus. Born Oct. 19, 1934, in Jefferson County, she was the daughter of the late Floyd and Lillian (Baker) Ogle. She was preceded in death by her first husband: Robert Earl Mains.
She is survived by her husband: Gale Franklin Strother; two daughters: Constance (Randy) Besore of Festus and Susan (Rex) Wright of Festus; a son: John (Deneen) Mains of Festus; a sister-in-law: Terie Ogle of Georgia; two stepdaughters: Shannon (Bob) Morgan and Kristal Dulleck, both of Florida; a stepson: Keller (Sonja Schoenwald) Strother of California; a nephew: Patrick E. (Kathryn) Ogle; a niece: Catherine (Andrew) Egenes; eight grandchildren: Rachel (Danny) Harness, Travis Besore, Jacob Besore, Valerie (Clayton) Springmann, Victoria (Donny) Schallert, Rex Wright II, Ryan Wright and Derek (Jaimie) Mains; four step-grandchildren: Lindsay Morgan, Tyler Dulleck, Kenzie (Blake) Hanson and Sterling Strother; six great-grandchildren: Ashton Boyer, Reece Boyer, Liliana Talarico, Tyler Harness, Brody Harness and Sereniti Adamson; and two great-nieces: Nora Lee Egens and Emerson Louise Ogle.
She was preceded in death by a brother: Floyd Leland Ogle; and a grandson: Robert Donnell Mains.
Visitation is scheduled from 5-8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 29, at Vinyard Funeral Home, 616 W. Main St., in Festus. Funeral services were private. Burial was in Rose Lawn Memorial Gardens in Crystal City. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society of America. Arrangements are under the direction of Vinyard Funeral Home.
