Wanda Fay Hughes, 88, of Crystal City died March 5, 2019. Mrs. Hughes had been a caregiver. She enjoyed gardening and caring for her home, and loved visiting with all her grandchildren. She was a member of Festus Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses. Born May 25, 1930, in Danby, she was the daughter of the late Nellie Elnore (Loewe) and William Emory Akins. She was preceded in death by her husband: Raymond Norvel Hughes Sr.
She is survived by a son: Tim (Rebecca) Hughes Sr. of De Soto; a daughter: Linda F. Nash of Crystal City; seven grandchildren: Derin (Michelle), Ginger, Sarah, Brent, Amanda (Abe), Tana (Butch) and Jacob (Amber); 12 great-grandchildren: Donny (Kelsey), Nicole, Timothy, Jade, John, Kaylie, Ryan, Tara, Cheyenne, Jacob, Adyson and Jacob; and two great-great-grandchildren: Peyton and Brylee.
She was preceded in death by three sons: Robert Lee Hughes, William Louis Hughes and Raymond N. Hughes Jr.; and a grandson: Timothy L Hughes Jr.
Funeral services and burial were private. Arrangements are under the direction of Mahn Twin City Chapel in Festus.
