Crews will close a stretch of northbound I-55 from between McNutt Street in Herculaneum and Hwy. Z in Pevely overnight Saturday, April 11, to shift northbound I-55 onto the median pavement.
The closure is scheduled to start at 10 p.m. Saturday, with the stretch to reopen at 5 a.m. Sunday, April 12, Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) officials announced in a written statement. All work is weather permitting.
A signed detour will direct traffic around the closure by exiting I-55 at McNutt Street (Exit 178) and turning right on McNutt Street and left onto Hwy. 61-67. Drivers will proceed north on Hwy. 61-67 to left onto Hwy. Z, taking that to return to the interstate, according to the statement.
The lane shift is part of an estimated $246 million I-55 Corridor Improvements project that runs from just north of Pevely south to just south of Festus.
