Schlett, Walter

Walter Schlett, 95, of Ware died June 3, 2022, at Mercy Hospital Jefferson in Crystal City. Mr. Schlett served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He retired from the De Soto Post Office and enjoyed cattle farming. He was a member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in De Soto. Born July 22, 1926, in De Soto, he was the son of the late Olive (Hearst) and Frank Schlett. He was preceded in death by his wife, Pauline (Long) Schlett.

He is survived by three children: Paul (Carrol) Schlett of Bloomsdale, Barbara (Warren) Robinson of Mission, Kan., and Ron (Veronica) Schlett of Ware; a sister: Wilma (the late Jim) Stroup of St. Louis County; two grandchildren: Aaron (Kim) Schlett and Garrett (Stephanie) Schlett; five great-grandchildren: Caitlyn, Ava, Cole, Astyn and Fynn; and two great-great-grandchildren: Paisley Beck and Alayna Beck. He was preceded in death by four sisters: Sister Anna Schlett S.J., Myrtle (the late Donald) Bequette, Margaret (the late Francis) Buehn and Gladys (Gordon survives) Redfield; and a brother: Alfred (the late Kathleen) Schlett.

Visitation is scheduled from 10 a.m. until a funeral service at noon Thursday, June 9, at Dietrich-Mothershead Funeral Home, 220 N. Main St., in De Soto, officiated by Father Alexander Anderson. Burial ids in the Woodlawn Cemetery in De Soto.
