Vopel Foster, 87, of De Soto died Nov. 7, 2016, at The Villas in De Soto. Mr. Foster was a pipe fitter with Chrysler and a member of Radiant Life Church in Festus. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. Born Nov. 19, 1928, in Pike County, Ind., he was one of eight children of the late Artis and Verdelia (Lewis) Foster.
He is survived by his wife of 24 years: Frances (Stanley) Foster of De Soto; three children: Gary (Juanita) Foster of House Springs, Glen Foster of Fenton and Kelly (Kathy) Foster of Sullivan; six stepchildren: Marsha (Bob) Sturgeons of Washington, Ind., Fred (Jackie) Ubbengay of Washington, Ind., Daniel “Dink” (Melonie) Eaker of Ware, Todd Eaker of De Soto, Paul (Sherri) Eaker of Cedar Hill and Rebekah Eaker of De Soto; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son: Ronald Foster; and a stepson: Cord (the late Carla) Eaker.
A memorial gathering is scheduled at 10 a.m. and a funeral service at 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 14, at Radiant Life Church, 11533 Gamel Cemetery Road, in Festus, officiated by the Rev. Randy Gray. Burial is in the National Cemetery at Jefferson Barracks. Arrangements are under the direction of Dietrich-Mothershead Funeral Home in De Soto.
