Violet Mae Statzel, 74, of Festus died June 10, 2014, at Mercy Hospital Jefferson in Crystal City.
Mrs. Statzel was a member of the Freewill Baptist Church in French Village and was employed for more than 25 years by the Christian Board Publication, a religious publication.
Born March 16, 1940, in Bunker, she was the daughter of the late Maudie (Barton) Demandi and Charles Edward Graham.
She is survived by her husband: Alvin Theodore Statzel; a son: Jeff (Marcy) Statzel of Cadet; a daughter-in-law: Dealonna Statzel of Crystal City; a sister: Wanda Lee Christopher of Potosi; two sisters-in-law: Joanne Graham of Park Hills and Sharon Graham of De Soto; six grandchildren: Jeremy (Karie) Statzel, Debbie Statzel, Courtney Statzel, Kasey Statzel, Josh (Melisa) Parker and Jeremy (Cherie) Parker; numerous great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.
She was preceded in death by a son: Timothy A. Statzel; three sisters: Vinnie (Lester) Lawson, Alma Graham and Frances (Earl) Barbey; and three brothers: William Graham, Billy Joe Graham and Bobby Gene Graham.
Visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m. Friday, June 13, at Vinyard Funeral Home, 616 Main St., in Festus. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 14, at the funeral home, officiated by the Rev. Terry Crank. Burial will follow in the Hall Cemetery, Hwy. D, in French Village.
