Viola Violet Berryman, 90, of St. Louis County died Sept. 28, 2020, at Bethesda-Dilworth Hospice in St. Louis County. Mrs. Berryman taught social studies at Fox High School for more than 20 years and was a member of Kirkwood Baptist Church. She was the valedictorian of the Festus High School Class of 1948 and graduated in 1969 with a bachelor’s degree in Russian history with a minor in economics and magna cum laude honors from the University of Missouri-St. Louis. Born Aug. 3, 1930, in Perry County, she was the daughter of the late Julia Eddleman and Nathan B. Voteau.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years: Chelsea Earl Berryman.

She is survived by three children: Russell (Cindy) Berryman, Karen (Michael) Fitzgerald of St. Louis and Kathy (Bill Watson) Berryman of Tampa, Fla.; three grandchildren: Sarah (Jason Harmon) Fitzgerald of Spring, Texas, Andrew (Kate) Berryman and Eve (Michael) Weber of St. Louis; five great-grandchildren: Noah and Henry Berryman, Vivian and Michael Weber and Owen Harmon.

She was preceded in death by four siblings: Elbert Voteau, Lillian Fenner, Esther Flieg and Richard Voteau; and a grandson: Matthew Berryman.

Arrangements were under the direction of St. Louis Cremation.
