Vicki Renee Merkel, 64, of Fenton died Oct. 20, 2021, at BJC Evelyn’s Hospice House. Ms. Merkel served in the U.S. Army and was a dental claims processor for BCBS of Illinois-Bellville. She was a non-denominational Baptist and a member of Clan Moncrief and Ladies Auxiliary Fraternal Order of Eagles in Arnold. Born March 12, 1957, in St. Louis, she was the daughter of the late Annabelle Rose (Volet) Stange and Earl Wilson Moncrief Jr. She was preceded in death by her husband: Donald Eugene Merkel.
She is survived by two children: Christian Eugene Merkel of Hannibal and Jessica Lynn Merkel of Fenton; two grandchildren: Brittany Lynn Young of Cedar Hill and Jalyn Renee Huber of Fenton; and many other family and friends, including Melissa Gurney, Wade Rivali, Josh Huber, Ryan Richardson, Wendy Richardson, Debbie Palmier, Lynn Barlar, Bernard McManus; the Carosello, Ellis, Malone, Stockstill, Corpening, Huber, Langer, Webber and Richardson families; as well as neighbors, gaming guild members and fellow volunteers.
She was preceded in death by a brother: John Earl Moncrief; herr grandparents: Earl W. Moncrief, Ruth Ann Haynes, Ferdinand Stange and Anna L. (Wallace) (Hart) Stange; an aunt: Ida Rose Hunt; and a cousin: Shirley Rose Hunt.
