Veronica M. Hammond-Fields, 86, of De Soto died Feb. 12, 2017, at the Villas in De Soto. Mrs. Hammond-Fields was a beautician and a volunteer at Jefferson Memorial Hospital, and was a member of St. Rose of Lima Church in De Soto. While living in California, she worked as an extra in several movies and television shows, including “Murder, She Wrote,” “Matlock” and “The Last Boy Scout.” Born June 23, 1930, in Old Mines, she was the daughter of the late Albert J. and Marie May (Bequette) Bourisaw. She was preceded in death by two husbands: Otho Hammond and Charles R. “Chuck” Fields.
She is survived by three children: Rusty (Patty) Hammond of De Soto, Danny Hammond of De Soto and Matt (Valerie) Hammond of New York N.Y.; a brother: Cecil “Buck” (Carol) Bourisaw of Desloge; two sister-in-law: Leona Bourisaw and Nancee Bourisaw; five grandchildren: Tonya (Mike) West, Beth Hammond, Nicole (Chris) Whitley, Jeremy (Sarah) Hammond and Ben (Nicole) Hammond; and five great-grandchildren: Katie, Charlie, Sylas, Vincente and Nolan.
She was also preceded in death by a daughter: Yvonne Seals; a son: Randy Hammond; two sisters: Catherine (the late Merle) Belt and Ruth (the late Shorty) Jarvis; and three brothers: Martin Bourisaw, John Bourisaw and Clifford Bourisaw.
Visitation is scheduled from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 14, at Dietrich-Mothershead Funeral Home, 220 N. Main, in De Soto. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 15, at St. Rose of Lima Church, officiated by Father Alexander Anderson. Burial is in the Calvary Mausoleum in De Soto. Arrangements are under the direction of Dietrich-Mothershead Funeral Home.
