Vera Santschi Trigg, 95, of Festus died Sept. 9, 2020, at Crystal Oaks Long Term Care Nursing Facility. Mrs. Trigg was the retired director of the Missouri Division of Family Services in Hillsboro and a member of First United Methodist Church of Festus-Crystal City. She was a member of PEO Chapter FR and the Prayer Shawl Ministry, and was a McCurdy Methodist Mission School Grandma in Espanola, N.M. She served many years at church working in the women’s group, teaching Sunday school students and leading youth groups. She enjoyed doing Bible Studies, knitting, playing bridge, reading, crossword puzzles, travel, watching sports on TV, and visits with grandchildren. Born July 15, 1925, in Festus, she was the daughter of the late Clarence J. and Mary Lambert Santschi. She was preceded in death 40 years ago by her husband: Harold Edward Trigg.
She is survived by a daughter: Becky (Bob) Tipton; two grandchildren: Jennifer (Steve) Carrera of Wildwood and Mark (Chrissy) Tipton of south St. Louis County; three great-grandchildren: Gabriel Carrera, Mya Tipton and Nora Tipton; and a sister: Charlotte Marie Schluter of Florissant.
She was preceded in death by three brothers: Julius Santschi, Byron Santschi and Paul Santschi; and a sister: Virginia Santschi Partney.
Funeral services were private with burial in Rose Lawn Memorial Gardens in Crystal City. Memorials may be made to CentralChristianSchool, 700 S. Hanley Road, St. Louis, 63105; to Queen of All Saints School, 6603 Christopher Drive, St. Louis, 63129; or to the First United Methodist Church Food Pantry. Arrangements were under the direction of Vinyard Funeral Home in Festus.
