Timothy “Scott” Kennedy, 44, of Festus died Dec. 26, 2019. Mr. Kennedy worked as a Washington County deputy and a Hillsboro police officer. He also did landscaping and sales work. He was a 1994 graduate of Herculaneum High School and a 2002 graduate of Mineral Area College, where he was at the top of his class in the police academy. He was a member of the U.S. Track and Field Federation and a former Jets Track Club member. He was a passionate, loyal friend and proud of his Irish heritage. Born March 6, 1975, in St. Louis, he was the son of Margaret “Margie” (McCord) Kennedy of Festus.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by a son: Nik Kennedy of Festus; a daughter: Alexis Kennedy of Warrensburg; a sister: Amy Kennedy of Festus; a nephew: Tyler Reed of Pevely; and his grandmother: Theda Gerard of Pevely.
Visitation is scheduled from 4-8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 2, at Vinyard Hillcrest Funeral Home, 9115 Commercial Blvd., in Pevely. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 3, at the funeral home, officiated by the Rev. Randy Gray. Burial is in the Herculaneum Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association. Arrangements are under the direction of Vinyard Funeral Home.
