Thomas Nelson Karnes, 82, of Crystal City died April 23, 2020, at his home. Mr. Karnes worked as an aircraft mechanic for the U.S. Air Force, retiring after 20 years. After retirement he went to work for B.A.E. in Okinawa, Japan. During his free time, he loved to go camping and to car shows and races. He was an active member of many veterans organizations, including the American Legion. He was born Jan. 13, 1938, in Bell, Calif., he was the son of the late Nelson James and Augusta Marie Marchand Karnes.

He is survived by his wife: Sarah Ann Karnes of Crystal City; four sons: Thomas Karnes II, of Pevely, John (Carmen) Karnes of Las Vegas, Nev., Jeff (Kimberly) Karnes of Round Rock, Texas, and James Karnes of Festus; four grandchildren: Meggan, Jennifer, Heather and Matthew; a brother: James (Denise) Karnes of Indio, Calif.; a sister: Suzannean Weber of Oregon; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Arrangements were under the direction of Mahn Twin City Chapel in Festus.
