Thomas Moore Sanders, 77, of Hoschton, Ga., formerly of De Soto, died May 2, 2016, in Hoschton. Mr. Sanders was retired after a 33-year career with AT&T. He was a 1956 graduate of De Soto High School and served with the Missouri National Guard from 1955 to 1961. Born Aug. 7, 1938, in De Soto, he was the son of the late Gertrude (Harris) Gibson Sanders and Virgil Grey Sanders Sr.
He is survived by his wife: Maria (Matrai) Sanders of Hoschton; two children: Michael Grey (Dawn) Sanders of High Pointe, N.C., and Thomas Christopher Sanders of Cincinnati, Ohio; five siblings: Larry (Vicki) Sanders of De Soto, Terry (Margaret) Sanders of Bloomsdale, Richard Sanders of De Soto, Jane Ellen Schoultz of De Soto and Pauline (Steve) Seidl of Farmington; and two grandchildren: Shelby Anne Sanders of High Pointe, N.C., and Cullan Sanders of Cincinnati, Ohio.
He was preceded in death by a daughter: Susan Lynne Sanders Lee; a brother: Virgil Grey Sanders Jr.; and two sisters: Mary Alice Donohue and infant Judith Ann Sanders, twin of Jane Ellen.
Visitation is at 12:30 p.m. and a funeral service is scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday, June 18, at Hope United Church of Christ, 113 S. Third, in De Soto, officiated by Pastor Nicole Torbitzky. Memorials may be made to Happy Feet, 610 Vineland School Road, De Soto, 63020. Arrangements are under the direction of Dietrich-Mothershead Funeral Home in De Soto.
