Thelma Colleen Cannon, 90, of Pevely died Aug. 21, 2018, at Crystal Oaks Nursing Center in Crystal City. Mrs. Cannon was a retired mail carrier with the Pevely Post Office and a charter member of First Baptist Church of Horine. She was a member and past Worthy Matron of Order of the Eastern Star Chapter 325 in Herculaneum, and served as past Grand Organist of the Missouri State Chapter of Order of the Eastern Star. She was born Aug. 9, 1928, in Jonesboro, Ark., the daughter of the late Mildred (Wright) and William Andrew Gibson. She was preceded in death by her husband: James Wilburn “Dub” Cannon.
She is survived by two sons: David William (Janet) Cannon of Pevely and Gary Lee (Colleen) Cannon of Festus; a daughter: Cindy (Adrian) Denbow of Pevely; a sister: Juanita (Paul) Freeman of Las Vegas, Nev.; nine grandchildren: Amber Cannon, James Cannon, Robert Cannon, Lesley (John) Lalumondier, Katie (Tom) Exline, Laurie (Joshua) Schmidt, Christopher Denbow, Jason (Mandi) Denbow and Meagan (Chris) Bahr; and 18 great-grandchildren: Sarah Tindel, Jason Tindel, Lucas Bahr, Tatum Bahr, Robbie Cannon Jr., Genevieve Cannon, Gracie Lalumondier, Garrett Lalumondier, Grant Lalumondier, Evan Lalumondier, Eli Lalumondier, Isaiah Mark Schmidt, Rylan Denbow, Briggs Denbow, Will Cannon, Adam Cannon, Destiny Cannon, and Madeline Cannon.
She was preceded in death by a son: James “Larry” Cannon.
Visitation is scheduled from 4-8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 23, at Vinyard Hillcrest Funeral Home, 9115 Commercial Blvd., in Pevely. Visitation is at 9 a.m. and a funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 24, at First Baptist Church of Horine, 2339 School Drive, in Pevely. Burial is in the Sandy Cemetery in Hillsboro. Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Horine. Arrangements are under the direction of Vinyard Funeral Home.
