Susan Marie Engel, 64, of Festus died Aug. 3, 2022, at Mercy Hospital Jefferson in Crystal City. Mrs. Engel was an inspector for the Builtwell Clothing Factory. She enjoyed camping, antiquing and working in the yard. Born June 3, 1958, in St. Louis, she was the daughter of the late Emily (Hlava) and Bill Cross.
She is survived by her husband: John Engel of Festus; a daughter: Jessica (Michael) Reckers of Crystal City; three grandchildren: Destin Reckers, Jonathan Reckers, and Shyanne Reckers; two great-grandchildren: Jordyn Story and Arii Reckers; and a sister: Donna (Robert) Priester of Laughlin, Nev. She was preceded in death by two sisters: Sandra Cross and Doris (the late Mike) Monroe.
Visitation is scheduled from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 13, at Vinyard Funeral Home, 616 W. Main, in Festus. A graveside service will follow at 1:30 p.m. in the Pilgrims Rest Cemetery in Ware. Memorials may be made to the National Kidney Foundation. Arrangements are under the direction of Vinyard Funeral Home.
