Steven L. “Steve” Reed, 70, of Hillsboro died Aug. 25, 2020, at his home. Mr. Reed was a 37-year employee of the Ford Motor Co. and a member of UAW Local 325. He was an avid outdoorsman and loved to hunt and trail ride horses. He was born Aug. 1, 1950, in St. Louis, the son of Dorothy (Sims) Reed of De Soto and the late Vernon Reed.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife: Barbara S. (Jones) Reed, whom he married on June 14, 1968, in Imperial; a daughter: Michelle L. (Gary) Bowles of Dittmer; three grandchildren: Josie S. Bowles of Dittmer, Katie M. Brown of De Soto and Zach S. Brown of De Soto; two great-grandchildren: Kameron Grant and Sky Grant, both of De Soto; and a number of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by a daughter: Kim E. Reed Brown
Mr. Reed chose to be cremated. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Memorials may be made to the Ronald McDonald House. Arrangements were under the direction of Robert D. Brown Funeral Home in Hillsboro.
