Pettit, Steven

Steven Dean Pettit, 49, of Hillsboro died Aug. 17, 2017, in Hillsboro. Mr. Pettit was the owner of Blackwood Firearms L.L.C., a lifetime member of the N.R.A., and a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He was an avid hunter and fisherman who loved camping and boating. Born May 4, 1968, in Charleston, S.C., he was the son of Donna L. (Sterns) Pettit of Hillsboro and the late Edward Dean Pettit.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by two daughters: Lezli R. Pettit of Festus and Sarah E. Pettit of Herculaneum; a brother: Michael D. Pettit of Jackson, Wyo.; his grandmother: Agnes A. (Kanyuck) Stattman of St. Louis; two grandchildren: Landon Seitz and Liam Urfer; and several aunts and uncles and cousins.

He was preceded in death by three grandparents: William Stattman, Virgil D. Pettit and Juanita R. (Hibner) Pettit.

Visitation is scheduled from 4-8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 24, at Robert D. Brown Funeral Home, 103 4th St., in Hillsboro. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 25, at the funeral home. Burial is in the National Cemetery at Jefferson Barracks. Memorials may be made to Camp Hope. Arrangements are under the direction of Robert D. Brown Funeral Home.
