Hamilton, Steve

Stephen James “Steve” Hamilton, 67, of Imperial died April 3, 2020. Mr. Hamilton was a 1970 graduate of the Berkeley City school district and attended college at the University of Missouri in Rolla. He worked for his father’s interior building contracting company, The M. J. Hamilton Co., until his father retired in 1991, then opened his own interior building contracting company called Hamilton Co. Over his entire career, he was a member of the St. Louis Carpenter’s Union.

Throughout his life, he enjoyed helping friends, family and neighbors with innumerable home improvement projects. For 17 years, he enjoyed volunteering his time to build sets for the yearly plays produced by the Windsor High School. He and his wife hosted many parties at their home, and were instrumental in keeping relatives who lived in other states connected. He was an avid water skier who taught many friends and family, and had a green thumb for banana and palm trees that he proudly showed off. Born July 4, 1952, he was the son of Malcolm James “Jim” and Phyllis Amacher Hamilton.

He is survived by his wife: Carol Hamilton; a son: James Robert “J.R.” (Anna) Hamilton of Pevely; a grandson: Luke Hamilton of Pevely; a sister: Pamela M. Hamilton of Jersey City, N.J.; and his beloved cat, Coon Boy.
