Stephen “Ike” Stevens, 92, of Crystal City died June 25, 2015, at Mercy Hospital Jefferson in Crystal City. Mr. Stevens was the retired head mechanical engineer at PPG Industries’ Crystal City plant. He served in the Army Air Force during World War II. He was a member of the First Church of Christ (Scientists), Mineral Area Iris Society and the  Mineral Area Hemerocallis (Daylily) Society. He was born Aug. 1, 1922 in Crystal City, the son of the late Martha (Soffron) and Anthony Theodore Stevens.

He was preceded in death by his wife: Goldie Mae (Runzi) Stevens.

He is survived by four nieces and nephews: Stephen (Pat) Siracusa of Herculaneum, Patricia (Kurt) Breeze of Festus, John (Denise) Siracusa of Festus and Marsha (Frank) O’Conner of Atlanta; a sister-in-law: Mary Stevens of Phoenix; and numerous great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great nieces and great-great nephews.

He was preceded in death by a daughter: Martha Alice Stevens; two sisters: Katherine T. (the late Leo) Siracusa and Helen G. Easley; and a brother: Charles S. Stevens.

Visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday, June 30, at Vinyard Funeral Home, 616 W. Main St., in Festus. Visitation will be held from 10-11 a.m. Wednesday, July 1, at  Grace Presbyterian Church, 105 Bailey Road, in Crystal City followed immediately by funeral services officiated by Rev. Rick Miller. Burial with full military honors will be at Rose Lawn Memorial Gardens in Crystal City. Memorials may be made to Pony Bird Home Inc. Arrangements are under the direction of Vinyard Funeral Home.
