Stanley Metford Decker, 89, Festus

Stanley Metford Decker, 89, of Festus died July 25, 2022, at his home. Mr. Decker served in the U.S. Army. He was a glassworker for the PPG Crystal City plant until he retirement. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Festus-Crystal City and VFW 3777. He loved horses and riding and spending time with his family. He also enjoyed working in his garden. Born Feb. 11, 1933, in Festus, he was the son of the late Florence (Butler) and Metford John Decker.

He is survived by his wife: Emma “Jean” (Waymire) Decker; a son: Mark (Mary Kay) Decker of Festus; a daughter: Lisa (Mike Schenk) Decker of Gerald; four grandchildren: Justin Nicholas Decker, Hannah Nicole (Ryan) Stackley, Noah Mark Decker and Alyssa Nicole Chapman; a brother-in-law: Ray Waymire of Dallas, Texas; and a sister-in-law: Kathy Waymire of Justin, Texas.

He was preceded in death by a brother-in-law: Gary Allen Waymire.

Visitation will be from noon until the funeral service at 2 p.m. Friday, July 29, at Vinyard Funeral Home, 616 W Main St., in Festus, officiated by the Rev. Willard “Jim” Waymire. Burial will be in Rose Lawn Memorial Gardens in Crystal City. Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Festus-Crystal City. Arrangements are under the direction of Vinyard Funeral Home in Festus.
