Shelby Jean Hancock Wood, 78, of Festus died Jan. 16, 2021, at her home. Mrs. Wood was a retired line worker with the Chrysler auto plant in Fenton. She was born Jan. 3, 1943, in Ilsley, Ky., the daughter of the late Mary Jane (Moore) and Henry Walter Suttle.

She is survived by her husband: Charles Walter “Chuck” Wood; a son: Gary Ronald Hancock of Eureka; five daughters: Donna Gayle (Don Mercille) Hancock of Fenton, Pamela Lynn (Paul) Seemayer of Fenton, Ginger Kay (John “Wally”) Walden of Pace, Fla., Gina Marie (Ronnie) Steinbach of St. Clair and Terry Ann (Todd) King of Leslie; two sisters: Dorothy (Rex) Brewer of Ilsley and Joyce (the late Ray) Adams of Newburg, Ind.; 14 grandchildren: Laura Shrum, Natasha Parker, Dylan Seemayer, Jacob Seemayer, Heather Logsdon, Deon Seemayer, Codey Seemayer, Vivian Walden, Sarah Brown, Marissa Small, Ryan Brown, Emily King, Jared King, and Michael Walden; and seven great-grandchildren: Lexis Shrum, Ariana Parmely, Jonah Parker, Adelyn Parker, Madison Logsdon, Nevaeh Seemayer and Izayah Seemayer.

She was preceded in death by a sister: June Pryor Adams.

Visitation is scheduled from 4-8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 28, at Vinyard Funeral Home, 616 W. Main St., in Festus. A funeral service will be held at 9:30 a.m. Friday, Jan. 29, at the funeral home, officiated by Pastor Terry Crank. Burial is in the National Cemetery at Jefferson Barracks. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Arrangements are under the direction of Vinyard Funeral Home in Festus.
