Sharon June Smith, 89, of Arnold died Sunday, March 29, 2020, at her daughter’s home in St. Joseph. Mrs. Smith was a homemaker, an active charter member of St. Mark United Church of Christ in Arnold, a seasonal secretary for the North American Equipment Dealers Association, and a charter member and officer of the South St. Louis Marine Corp Auxiliary for the past 15 years.
Born Feb. 23, 1931, in Evansville, Ind., she was the daughter of Norman and Madge (Chism) Knapp. She was preceded in death by her husband: James Dewey Smith, whom she married on Aug. 12, 1950, in Evansville.
She is survived by a daughter: Sondra Quick of St. Joseph; a son: James Gregory (Beverly) Smith of Davie, Fla.; a daughter-in-law: Terrie Smith of O’Fallon; seven grandchildren; two great-grandsons; a brother, Paul Wayne Knapp of Evansville; and many other family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by four siblings; and a son, Bruce Gaylen Smith.
A memorial service and burial in Evansville are pending. Memorials may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, St. Jude Children’s Hospital or the Open Door Animal Sanctuary in House Springs.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Harman Rohde Funeral Home in Wathena, Kansas.
