Sandra Kay Straughan, 71, of Desloge died June 21, 2018, at Missouri Baptist Hospital in St. Louis County. Mrs. Straughan was a member of the First Church of God in Esther and attended the First Church of God in Desloge. Her pride and joy was her family and she loved attending every event her kids and grandkids were involved in. Born July 18, 1946, in Bonne Terre, she was the daughter of the late James Grimes and Juanita May (Umfleet) Grimes Ransom.
She is survived by her husband of 52 years: George Straughan; three children: Lisa (Dave DeClue) Phares of Potosi, Lori (Jeff) Hopper of Hillsboro and James (Rebecca) Straughan of Bonne Terre; six grandchildren: Blakley Kay Phares Boyett, Quinton Hopper, Weston Hopper, Karlie Straughan, Jake Phares and Kyle Straughan; one great-granddaughter: Layla Kay Franklin; a special sister: Linda Sedgwick; special friends Cora and Stan LaPlante; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by two granddaughters: Kourtney Straughan and Taylor Phares; and her stepfather: Walter Ransom.
Visitation is at noon and a funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, June 23, at C.Z. Boyer and Son Funeral Home, 1116 Desloge Drive, in Desloge, officiated by Pastor Keith King. Burial is in the BonneTerreCemetery. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s ResearchHospital. Arrangements are under the direction of C.Z. Boyer and Son Funeral Home.
