Anthony J. Wozniak Jr., 38, of Arnold has been charged with felony persistent driving while intoxicated. He has previously been convicted of at least two prior DWI charges, court records show.
Wozniak was charged on March 30, and he was arrested on April 2. He was being held on a $10,000 bond at the Jefferson County Jail in Hillsboro, according to court and jail records.
According to the case’s probable-cause statement, Wozniak was arrested Jan. 17 after a deputy stopped the 2021 Chevrolet Silverado he was driving in the 8000 block of Hwy. B in Cedar Hill. The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office reported the deputy was called to the area after reports of someone speeding and driving recklessly.
The Sheriff’s Office also said the deputy saw Wozniak cross the highway’s center line numerous times before stopping him.
Wozniak allegedly failed one field sobriety test, and deputy determined it was not safe for Wozniak to perform additional tests. The deputy also wrote in the probable-cause statement that Wozniak registered a .195 percent blood-alcohol content on a preliminary test and a .164 percent blood-alcohol content on a second test after being arrested.
Wozniak allegedly said he drank two shots and three beers before driving, the report said.
According to court documents, Wozniak was found guilty of DWI in November 2020 in Jefferson County, and he was found guilty of DWI again in March 2022 in Washington County.
