Roy Joseph “Bud” Panchot, 89, formerly of Festus, died Feb. 18, 2021. Mr. Panchot graduated from the University of Missouri in Columbia. He married his wife in 1958, and they settled in Crestwood, where they lived for 25 years. He had a long career in banking, including leadership positions with the St. Louis County National Bank and the Bank of Arnold. In 1987, he and his wife moved to Ste. Genevieve for his job at the former Bank of Ste. Genevieve. During his retirement, he became a community volunteer and helped to establish and sustain the Ste. Genevieve County Community Center Foundation and served as its president for 15 years. For 20 years, he was president of the Ste. Genevieve Catholic Church finance committee. He was a member of the Rotary Club, the Knights of Columbus and the Southeast Regional Planning Commission in Perryville. He enjoyed spending time outdoors on the family farm, especially with his son and his late in-laws. He will be remembered for his integrity and strength. Born Sept. 10, 1931, in Festus, he was the son of the late Earl and Stella (Auzat) Panchot.
He is survived by his wife: Carol Grass; a son: Jeff (Pamela); three grandsons: Jean-Luc (Julia), Austin and Logan; a daughter: Colette (Melissa James) Panchot; a brother: Richard (Donna); a sister-in-law: Mary Panchot; and many other family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by a brother: Robert R. Panchot; two sisters: Martha L. (the late Keith) Lewis and Esther Belle (the late Paul) Kane; and his mother-in-law and father-in-law: William and Irene Grass.
A celebration of life will be held later. Memorials may be made to the Society of St. Vincent DePaul. Arrangements are under the direction of Vinyard Funeral Home in Festus.
