Ronald Eugene “Ron” Freeman, 75, of Festus died Feb. 27, 2022, at Mercy Hospital Jefferson in Crystal City. Mr. Freeman was a U.S. Navy veteran, enlisting at 19 and serving from 1965 to 1969, including two tours in Vietnam. After leaving the Navy, he worked as a warehouseman for Schnucks and was a member of Local 688 and the Teamsters. He enjoyed golfing, reading, going to the beach and taking walks, trivia, doing yard work, listening to music and spending time with his granddaughter. He was born March 16, 1946, in Lincoln Park, Mich., the son of the late Evrett Eugene and Agnes Anita (Stinson) Freeman.
He is survived by his wife of more than 33 years: Nancy (Pashia) Freeman of Festus; a son: U.S. Marine Corps veteran Ben (Indira) Freeman of Stuttgart, Germany; two daughters: active duty Missouri Air National Guard airman Carissa (Cari) Allen of Festus and Sarah (Sam) Maness of Festus; a granddaughter: Elizabeth Marie Maness; a brother: Donnie Freeman of Oakville; and numerous other family members and friends. He was preceded in death by a brother: Lonnie (Joan) Freeman; four sisters: Joan White, Shirley (Mike) Gossett, Barb (Grover) Cheatham and Joyce (Mary Bes) Freeman; and a sister-in-law: Lucy Freeman.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date. A procession will leave Mahn Twin City Chapel in Festus at 11 a.m. and burial will be held at 11:30 a.m. Friday, March 4, in the National Cemetery at Jefferson Barracks. Memorials may be made to the family.
