Rodney R. Hercher, 69, of Herculaneum died Dec. 21, 2019, at his home. Mr. Hercher was a carman for Union Pacific Railroad and attended St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in De Soto. He was a member of the Knight of Columbus Council 1185 in De Soto, the Elks Lodge, and the Redneck Yacht Club, and enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, boating, classic cars, and spending time with family. Born July 29, 1950, in St. Louis, he was the son of the late Marvin O. and Thelma J. (Pitzer) Hercher.
He is survived by his wife: Sherri K. (Wilson) Hercher; three sons: Dustin R. Hercher of Valles Mines, Cory R. Hercher of Herculaneum and David Wilson of Herculaneum; two daughters: Angela K. Pitchford of Imperial and Wendy M. (James) Ford of Valles Mines; 10 grandchildren: Ashtin (Lucas) Dennis, Taylor (Dale) Lakes, Preston Pitchford, Renee Lemons, Abigail Wilson, Samantha Hercher, Brody Hercher, Brandon Hercher, Hunter Hercher and Dallas Wilson; and a great-grandchild: Colton.
He was preceded in death by a brother: Melvin M. Hercher; and two sisters: Diana Hercher and Doris Griffith.
Visitation will be from 1-6 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 5, at Mahn Funeral Home, 900 N. Main St., in De Soto. A funeral service will take place at 10 a.m. Monday, Jan. 6, at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, with burial to follow in Calvary Cemetery in De Soto. Memorials may be made to St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, Adopt an Angel or the Alzheimer’s Association. Arrangements are under the direction of Mahn Funeral Home.
