
Robert William Thornton, 93, of Imperial died April 27, 2021, in De Soto. Mr. Thornton was a fisherman and deer hunter who enjoyed building and repairing just about anything.
He was born Sept. 30, 1927, in Imperial, the son of the late Clarence R. and Esther Mary (Miller) Thornton.
He was preceded in death by his wife: Thelma Theresa (Keim) Thornton.
He is survived by five sons: Gordon L. (Cathy) Thornton of De Soto, Bruce N. Thornton of Lake Ozark, Steven M. (Carol) Thornton of Festus, Timothy R. (Robin) Thornton of Rosel and Paul (Priscila) Thornton of Dittmer; two brothers: Jerry (Rochelle) Thornton, William (Barb) Thornton; a sister: Bernice Arnold; two sisters-in-law: Alma Jean Thornton and Alma Jean Thornton; 20 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren, five great-great grandchildren and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by three brothers: “Chick” (Deloris) Thornton, Clarence Thornton Jr. and Dean Thornton; and a brother-in-law: Louis Arnold.
Visitation will be held from 9-10 a.m. Monday, May 3, at Heiligtag-Lang-Fendler Funeral Home, 1081 Jeffco Blvd., Arnold, immediately followed by funeral services. Burial will be in St. John’s Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Heiligtag-Lang-Fendler Funeral Home.
