Robert “Uncle Bob” Kossina, 102, of Dittmer died April 15, 2015.

Mr. Kossina was a member of St. Martin’s United Church of Christ in Dittmer, as well as the Jefferson County and Missouri State Coon Hunters associations and the Jefferson County Fox Hunters Association. He enjoyed helping people and fishing, hunting, gardening, farming and animals.

Born Sept. 9, 1912, in Brickey, he was the son of the late John and Louise (Luber) Kossina.

He was preceded in death by his wife: Clara (Bauer) Kossina.

He is survived by his nephew, godson and longtime caretaker: Randy Gillman of Dittmer; a sister-in-law: Lorraine Kossina of Illinois; and many nephews, nieces, great-nephews, great-nieces and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by 12 siblings: Oscar (Marge) Kossina, Ema (Greg) Ganley, Agnes (Edward) Kannewurf, Al (Edna) Kossina, Ernest (Bertha) Kossina, William (Tillie) Kossina, Ervin (Leona) Kossina, Edwin Kossina, Lawrence (Bernice) Kossina, Adeline (Harold) Burkart, Jake Kossina and an infant sister; and a half sister: Florence Kossina.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. today (April 17) at Chapel Hill Mortuary, 6300 Hwy. 30, in Cedar Hill. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 18, at St. Martin’s United Church of Christ, 7890 Dittmer Ridge Road, in Dittmer. Burial is in the St. Martin’s United Church of Christ Cemetery in Dittmer.

Memorials may be made to St. Martin’s United Church of Christ or the Jefferson County Coon Hunters Association.
