Robert Thomas “Bob” Peery Sr., 90, of Festus died May 22, 2021, at Mercy Hospital Jefferson in Crystal City. Mr. Peery was a U.S. Navy veteran and an experienced machinist and worked for numerous companies around the area including St. Joe Lead, PPG Industries, Unicell, Blackburn Products and St. Louis Screw & Bolt. He was a member of Sacred Heart Church in Crystal City, and a lifelong member of Knights of Columbus Council 1230. He worked as a volunteer for the Sacred Heart Eucharistic Adoration Chapel and the former Jefferson Memorial Hospital. He enjoyed gardening and taking care of the grounds at Sacred Heart Church. Born Nov. 27, 1930, in Bonne Terre, he was the son of the late Robert A. and Leora (Burr) Peery.
He is survived by his wife: Margaret “Marge” (Thomure) Peery; four sons: Robert T. “Bob” (Dawn) Peery Jr. of Crystal City, Christopher (Becky) Peery of Moncks Corner, S.C., Jason (Jean) Peery of Bloomsdale and Marcus (Patti) Peery of Herculaneum; a sister: Carol Clark of Bonne Terre; f15 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and numerous other family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by a son: Joseph Francis (Tena) Peery Sr.; a brother: Homer (the late Connie) Peery; and a grandson: Kyle Peery.
Visitation is scheduled from 4-8 p.m. Thursday, May 27, at Vinyard Funeral Home, 616 W Main, in Festus. A funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, May 28, at Sacred Heart Church in Crystal City, officiated by Father Mathew Cheruparambil and Deacon Jerry Stoverink. Burial with full military honors will take place in the Sacred Heart Cemetery in Crystal City. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis, Tenn., or in the form of Masses in Mr. Peery’s honor. Arrangements are under the direction of Vinyard Funeral Home.
