Robert Joseph Miller, 92, of Mansfield, Ohio, formerly of Crystal City, died July 13, 2018, at his home in Wedgewood Estates in Mansfield. Mr. Miller was a veteran of the U.S. Navy who served in Manila and Australia during World War II. After his service, he worked at Pittsburgh Plate Glass for 38 years, earning a degree from Millikin University in 1968. He loved to sing and tell stories of his childhood, and was a lifelong St. Louis Cardinals fan. Born in 1925 in St. Louis, he was the son of the late Rose Mary (Uhrich) and Phillip Chauncey Miller. He was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years: Eleanor Aileen Miller, whom he met through PPG.
He is survived by five children: James (Laura) Miller, Robert (Mary) Miller, Nancy (Robert) Duck, Thomas (Wendy) Miller and Carol (John) Shields; nine grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and two sisters: Virginia Lucas of Festus and Marlene Kerlagon of Bloomsdale.
He was preceded in death by a granddaughter: Stephanie Lynn Duck.
Funeral Mass was held July 19 at Resurrection Parish in Lexington, Ohio, officiated by Father Gregory Hite. Burial with military honors was in the Shauck Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Snyder Funeral Home in Mansfield, Ohio.
