Robert Andrew “Shady” Lane, 92, of Herculaneum, died June 13, 2017, in Cuba, Mo. Mr. Lane was longtime employee of McDonnell Douglas and served in the Army during World War II. He was an avid gardener and loved to write and play music on his guitar. Born Feb. 21, 1925, in Patterson, he was the son of the late William Henry and Delphina Louella (Hughes) Lane. He was preceded in death by his wife: Billie Jewel (Dees) Lane.
He is survived by his wife: Arletea (Hamby) Douglas of Herculaneum; two daughters: Cathy Riggs of Cuba and Pat (Jake) Taylor of Hillsboro; a son: Alan (Alisha) Lane of Cuba; four grandchildren: Kris Riggs of Cuba, Cory Lane of Santa Monica, Calif., Maria Lane of Destin, Fla., and Jacob Taylor of Hillsboro; three stepchildren: Susie, Cookie and Elery; and several nieces and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by two brothers: Marvin and Earl Lane; and a sister: Myrtle Robinson.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, June 16, at Robert D. Brown Funeral Home, 103 Fourth St., Hillsboro, followed immediately by funeral services. Burial will be at Hillsboro Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association. Arrangements are under the direction of Robert D. Brown Funeral Home.
