Robert Allen DePew, 77, of Pevely died Wednesday, July 28, at his home. Mr. DePew was a lieutenant at the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office for 27 years and was a member of the Second Baptist Church. Born Aug. 3, 1943, in St. Louis, he was the son of the late Alma (Hastings) and Floyd DePew.
He is survived by his wife: Brenda Sue (Sanford) DePew; three sons: Allen (Marilyn) DePew of Festus, Robert W. (Kellie) DePew of Pevely and Kenneth B. (Becky) DePew of Pevely; two daughters: Tracy (David) Greenlee of Festus and Denise E. (Curt) Guinn of Festus; a brother: Frank DePew; two sisters: Eileen DePew and Joann (Wayne) Beckemeyer; 12 grandchildren: Shawn Loness, Nathan, Brandon, Ashley and Trevor DePew, Shawn Meyer, Drew Greenlee, Courtney O’Harver, Lindsey Hancock, Brittany Tyler and Richie and Amanda Huddleston; 16 great-grandchildren: Brylee DePew, Michael and Connor Loness, Fhaye and Kalvin Meyer, Trinity and Sophia O’Harver, Korbin Hancock, Kase and Kami Jae Litton, Tessa and Hazel Tyler, Brooklyn and Faith Huddleston and Oliver and Aurora Dobbs; and numerous family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by nine siblings: Charles Daniel DePew, Ann Elizabeth Harris, Floyd Hutson DePew, Chester Glen DePew, Ruth Viola Watts, Howard DePew, Raymond DePew, Douglas DePew and Barb Fink.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 5, at Vinyard Funeral Home, 616 W. Main St., in Festus. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 6, at the funeral home, officiated by Dan Dinger. Burial will be in Sandy Baptist Cemetery in Hillsboro. Memorials may be made to the National Kidney Foundation. Arrangements are under the direction of Vinyard Funeral Home.
