Richard ‘Rich’ Schlittler, 86, Barnhart

Richard “Rich” Schlittler, 86, of Barnhart died April 27, 2022. Mr. Schlittler retired as a master pressman after working for St. Louis Lithographing for 47 years. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War and the Berlin crisis. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, going to his lake house, boating, fishing, playing pranks on his grandchildren, working on small engines and solving problems. Born Aug 24, 1935, in St. Louis County, he was the son of the late Edwin P. and Florence C. (Schlifer) Schlittler.

He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Schlittler; five children: Rich (Laura) Schlittler, Kelly (Mike) Meyer, Daniel (Lisa) McManis, Tammy (Mark) Glenn and Jeanna (Greg) O’Bryan; 12 grandchildren: Amy (Jeff) Earl, Michael (Megan) Meyer, Olivia (Cody) Schwartz, Robbie (Ryan) Merklin, Jessie (Corey) Riddle, Alan (Becky) McManis, Alicia (Drew) Yount, Kaitlyn Glenn, Victoria (Dominic) Blanke, Zachary (Summer) O’Bryan, Zane O’Bryan and Zeth (Ashley) O’Bryan; and 21 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two brothers: Leo E. (Doris) Schlittler and Edwin J. (Fran) Schlittler; and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Delbert O. and Grace Spoonemore.

Visitation will be held from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 3, at John L. Ziegenhein and Sons Funeral Home, 4830 Lemay Ferry Road, St. Louis, followed immediately by funeral services. Burial will be at the National Cemetery at Jefferson Barracks. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association in St. Louis or the Missouri Veterans Home in Cape Girardeau. Arrangements are under the direction of John L. Ziegenhein and Sons Funeral Home.
