Raymond Glennon “Hugo” Meyer, 90, of Crystal City, died March 9, 2016. Mr. Meyer He was a retired general foreman for PPG Industries Inc. in Crystal City. He was a member of Sacred Heart Church in Crystal City, the Knights of Columbus No. 1230, VFW Post 3777, American Legion Post 253, Amvets Post 48 and Elks Lodge No. 1721. He was born Oct. 1, 1925, in Festus, the son of the late Ida (Wucher) and Benjamin L. Meyer.
He was preceded in death by his wife: Maybelle Mary (Boyer) Meyer.
He is survived by a son: Larry (Patty) Meyer of Festus; two brothers: Cletus (Billie) Meyer of Festus and Herman (Betty) Meyer of Crystal City; two sisters: Wilma (the late Bud) Edwards of Crystal City and Shirley (the late Donald) Fults of Herculaneum; a brother-in-law: Jerry Beck of Crystal City; two grandchildren: Mark (Michelle) Meyer and Scott (Shanna) Meyer; and six great-grandchildren: Zachary, Austin, Caitlyn, Kolten, Riley and Reese Meyer.
He was preceded in death by five brothers: Edgar (the late Rose) Meyer, Robert Meyer, Hubert “Hup” (the late Irma) Meyer, Chalmer “Diney” (the late Christine) Meyer and Leroy (the late Floyd) Bohnert; and two sisters: Thelma (the late Valle) Besand and Gloria “Tootsie” Beck.
Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, March 14, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 555 Bailey Road, in Crystal City, officiated by Father Clark Maes. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery in Crystal City. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital. Arrangements are under the direction of Vinyard Funeral Home in Festus.
