Ralph Oliver “Gugger” Pittman Sr., 74, of Festus died May 21, 2022, at Fountainbleau Nursing Center in Festus. Mr. Pittman was a custodian for Walmart who shared his love of fishing to his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Born April 7, 1948, in Festus, he was the son of the late Lottie L. (Jackson) and Oliver M. “Red” Pittman.
He is survived by his wife: Brenda E. (Jones) Pittman; four children: Ralph “Boogie” Pittman Jr. of Pevely, LaDonna R. (Travis) Garner of Festus, Michael D. Pittman of Festus and James A. “Jed” Pittman of Festus; a sister: Naomi F. Fields of Ozark; a sister-in-law: Eloise O. (Bland) Pittman of Nixa; five nephews: Terrence E. (Judy) Pittman of Springfield, Eugene “Gene” E. Pittman and Jason A. Fields, both of Minneapolis, Minn., and Chad E. (Connie) White and Adam S. White, both of Sparta, Ill.; a cousin: Harvey E. Charleston of Festus; 20 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; several great-nieces and great-nephews; and numerous family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by a sister: Betty J. McCullough; a brother: Eugene M. “Tookie” Pittman; and a granddaughter: Keyonna R. Pittman.
Visitation will be from 3-5 p.m. Wednesday, May 25, at Vinyard Funeral Home, 616 W. Main St., in Festus, followed immediately by services officiated by Bishop Ron Luellen Sr. A gathering will follow at the Mississippi River Eagles, 330 Bailey Road, in Crystal City. Memorials may be made to the National Kidney Foundation. Arrangements are under the direction of Vinyard Funeral Home.
