R. Evelyn Kauble Fite, 98, formerly of Webster Groves, died Nov. 13, 2106, at Big Bend Woods Healthcare Center in Valley Park. Mrs. Fite was a retired executive secretary in the patent department of Monsanto in St. Louis and a member of First Christian Church of Hematite. Born Oct. 23, 1918, in Marion, Ill., she was the daughter of the late Jennie (Kelley) and William George Metzinger. She was preceded in death by two husbands: Harold James Kauble and Keaton Fite.
She is survived by four daughters: Cinda Ann (Rob) Hauf of Tavares, Fla., Lisa Deborah Kauble of Pacific, Jenny Lynn Mertens of Valley Park and Pamela Mary (Frank) Schaffer of Affton; a son: William Douglas (Pixy) Kauble of Flagler Beach, Fla.; a daughter-in-law: Susan Kauble of Alabama; nine grandchildren: Melanie (David) Ulrich, Amber (Dan) Stoffer, Bradley (Jennifer) Stamulis, Michelle Kauble, Chelsea Schaffer, Cheryl Kauble, David Mertens, Frankie (Talia) Schaffer and D.J. (Hannah) Schaffer; and nine great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by a son: Harold Gregory Kauble; and two brothers: Jim (the late Lynn) Metzinger and Warren (the late Nancy) Metzinger.
Visitation is scheduled at 9 a.m. and a funeral service at noon Saturday, Nov. 19, at Vinyard Funeral Home, 616 W. Main, in Festus, officiated by the Rev. Terry Crank. Burial is in the Hematite Christian Cemetery. Memorials may be made to First Christian Church of Hematite. Arrangements are under the direction of Vinyard Funeral Home.
