Phyllis Keener, 89, of Catawissa died May 7, 2020 in Fenton. Mrs. Keener loved painting, traveling, thrift-store shopping and going to garage sales. Born May 9, 1930, in Spring Lake, N.J., she had a heart of gold and would give the shirt off her back to anyone in need.
She is survived by her husband of 28 years: Paul Keener of Catawissa; 10 children: Lester Starnes of Red Bank, N.J., Wanda Starnes of Masauan, N.J., Reginald “Freddy” (Sharon) Starnes of Parma, Ohio, Annmarie Starnes of Maryland, Sherry McDonald of Virginia Beach, Va., Eileen Jernigan of Dale, Texas, Heidi Wier of Dale, Texas, Edith Eddelton of Lockhart, Texas, Walter (Catlin) Demming of Fenton and Andrea Demming of Catawissa; 19 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; a sister: Shirley Fetzer of Brick, N.J.; two sisters-in-law: Donna Heisler of Cedar Hill and Charlene (Jerry) Walden of Affton; and many other family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents and by six siblings: Lester Reynolds, May Parisi, Harry Johnson, Arther Bubadaias, Robert Bubadaias and Nancy Michaelson.
Visitation is at 11 a.m. and a funeral service is scheduled for 3 p.m. Friday, May 15, at Chapel Hill Mortuary, 6300 Hwy. 30, in Cedar Hill. Burial will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, P.O. Box 1000, Dept. 142, Memphis, TN 38148-0412. Arrangements were under the direction of Chapel Hill Mortuary.
