Cowee, Phyllis

Phyllis J. Cowee, 77, of Potosi died Aug. 11, 2018, in Potosi. Mrs. Cowee was a homemaker and a member of the Potosi Southern Baptist Church. She enjoyed browsing at yard sales and second-hand stores. Born Aug. 12, 1940, in Paragould, Ark., she was the daughter of the late Ruby (Turpin) and Claude Hyde.

She is survived by her husband: Robert Eugene Cowee Sr. of Leadwood; seven children: Robert E. “Bob” (Becky) Cowee Jr. of Roy, Wash., Paula (Ronald) Akins of De Soto, Rhonda (Mark) Smith of Switzerland, Fla., Pamela (Joe) Lore of Cadet, Tracy (Elaine) Cowee of St. Stephen, S.C., Timothy (Kelly) Cowee of St. Louis and Laurie Isenhart of Goose Creek; two brothers: the Rev. Rick (Kaye) Hyde of Arkadelphia, Ark., and J.W. “Dub” Hyde of St. Peters; a brother-in-law: Gus Ventimigilia of Ft. Myers, Fla.; 18 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a son-in-law: Doug Isenhart; three sisters: Claudette Stogsdill, Wynell Pullen and Fondel Ventimiglia; and a brother: Orville Gene Hyde.

Visitation is at 10 a.m., followed by a funeral service at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 15, at Dietrich-Mothershead Funeral Home, 220 N. Main St. in De Soto, officiated by the Rev. Dr. Jeremy Muniz. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association. Arrangements are under the direction of Dietrich-Mothershead Funeral Home.
