Opal Geneva Reed, 90, of Festus died April 30, 2021, at Mercy Hospital Jefferson in Crystal City. Born Sept. 13, 1930, in Salem, Mo., she was the daughter of the late Everett Reece and Myrtle (Canaday) Reece-Moore. She was preceded in death by her husband: James William Reed.
She is survived by two sons: James A. “Jim” Reed and William A. “Bill” Reed, both of Festus; a sister: Virginia (the late Robert Sr.) Casey of Festus; two grandchildren: Eric J. (Amy) Reed and Kyle J. Reed; two great-granddaughters: Erica Reed and Lilly Reed; and a great-great-granddaughter: Skyler Boyd.
She was preceded in death by two sisters: Glenna (the late Fred Sr.) Tinker and Esther (the late Melvin) Emas; and her stepfather: Austin Moore.
Visitation is from 9 a.m. until a funeral service at 10 a.m. Thursday, May 6, at Vinyard Funeral Home, 616 W. Main, in Festus, officiated by Pastor Wayne Kuenzle of Cedar Hill. Burial is in the National Cemetery at Jefferson Barracks. Arrangements are under the direction of Vinyard Funeral Home .
