Cannon, William

William Barry “Bill” Cannon, 86, of De Soto died Sept. 2, 2023, at his home. Mr. Cannon was a master control technician for Ameren. He volunteered for many years with Kress Farm, Habitat for Humanity and many other environmental organizations. He was an explorer of the natural world who loved animals, and enjoyed travel and reading. Born Aug. 30, 1937, in St. Louis, he was the son of the late Anne (Barry) and Ralph Marton Cannon Sr.

He is survived by his wife: Delia (Almanzor) Cannon; three daughters: Barb (Mark) Waltz of Crystal City, Rebecca L. Cannon of De Soto and Jennifer Keal of St. Louis; seven grandchildren: Melissa Bell, Jamaica L. Cannon, Nathaniel Cannon, Marci Huscher, Talisha Brooks, Sarah Tena and Tim Keal; 10 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and special friends: Rebecca Darland, Chelsea Petersen and Dee Ann Marion.

He was preceded in death by his only son: Joseph B. Cannon, a grandchild: Zachary Cannon; and six siblings: Nancy Lang, Ralph M. (Pat survives) Cannon Jr., Dolores Bailey, Eleanor Sherriff, Joseph Cannon and Kathleen (Joseph survives) Penrod.

Private family services will be held. Memorials may be made to the Swan Conversation Trust Joe Cannon Memorial or to Stray Rescue of St. Louis. Arrangements are under the direction of Vinyard Funeral Home.
