Thelma Jean Ross, 80, of Festus died May 17, 2023, in Crystal City. Ms. Ross worked as a nurse’s aide for many years prior to retirement. She enjoyed gardening, sewing and being a homemaker. Born Dec. 21, 1942, in Ozark, Ark., she was the daughter of the late Bonnie Mae (Blythe) and Homer Lester McCormick. She was preceded in death by her husband: Charles W. Ross Sr.
She is survived by two sons: Glenn (Lisa) Ross of Herculaneum and Charles W. Ross Jr. of Festus; a daughter: Lisa Diann (Dennis) Dankebring of Festus; a sister: Joyce Templeton; a brother-in-law: Bill Kaase; five grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and three great great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother: James W. McCormick; four sisters: Emma Easton, Wilma Johnson, Patsy Kaase and Velma Guyton; and four brothers-in-law: Ward Templeton, Ronnie Guyton, Buck Johnson and Marion Easton.
A private service will be held later. Burial will be in the National Cemetery at Jefferson Barracks at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Mahn Twin City Chapel in Festus.
