Robert Wayne Helms, 68, of De Soto died May 18, 2023, in De Soto. Mr. Helms was an avid hunter and fisherman, enjoying weekends at the lake and a memorable trip boar hunting in Texas He was very involved with his children as a coach, and found his passion in a career with Comtrea that allowed him to be a mentor and positive role model. He enjoyed life on his mini-farm, and always had an ear to lend as well as advice, even if it wasn’t asked for. He was born July 29, 1954, in Bonne Terre, the son of the late Marvin and Norma (Miller) Helms.
He is survived by his wife: Stephanie Helms of De Soto; four daughters: Rebecca (Ernest) Shaw of Columbia, Elizabeth Mogenson of O’Fallon; Breanna (Daniel) Meyer of Fenton and Mollie (Nick) Sherman of Bonne Terre; a sister: Patricia (Steve) Parsons of Herculaneum; eight grandchildren: Evelyn Shaw, Harrison Shaw, Elli Mogenson, Grace Meyer and Liam, Bentley, Noah and Harper Sherman; and many other family members and friends.
A graveside service was held June 13 at St. Francois Memorial Park in Bonne Terre. Arrangements were under the direction of Moore Funeral Home in Potosi.
