Patrick C. Gerding, 76, Crystal City

Patrick C. Gerding, 76, of Crystal City died April 13, 2023, at his home. Mr. Gerding worked in metal fabrication for Gerding Enterprises and LMC Industries. He was a member of First United Methodist Church of Festus-Crystal City. He enjoyed spending time with his family and being outdoors. Born Oct. 31, 1946, in St. Louis, he was the son of the late Mary Ann (Moloney) and Charles H. Gerding Sr.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years: Shirley (Phillips) Gerding; two daughters: Lori (the late Terry Lee) Holdinghausen of Crystal City and Jackie (Todd) Twillmann of St. Louis; two sisters: Christine Blair of Wentzville and Melissa (Tim) Lawrence of Pearl River, La.; one brother: Charles H. (Cindy) Gerding Jr. of Dittmer; seven grandchildren: Matthew (Emily) Holdinghausen, Stephanie (Tim) Glenn, Daniel (Brittney) Holdinghausen, Alexis and Alana Twillmann, and Grace and Jacob Holdinghausen; six great-grandchildren: Abbey, Ian, Cooper, Luke, Carleigh and Samuel; three beloved pets: Squeaky, Spanky and Charlie; and many other family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by a sister: Kathryn (Gerding) Moreland.

Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until a funeral service at 3 p.m. Thursday, April 27, at Vinyard Funeral Home, 616 W. Main St., in Festus, officiated by Pastor Robert Lewis. Memorials may be made to Johnston Chapel Cemetery Association, 4232 Ripley Route P., Gatewood, 63942-7719 or Open Door Animal Sanctuary in House Springs. Arrangements are under the direction of Vinyard Funeral Home.
